Modeling Hebb Learning Rule for Unsupervised Learning

چکیده
This paper presents to model the Hebb learning rule and proposes a neuron learning machine (NLM). Hebb learning rule describes the plasticity of the connection between presynaptic and postsynaptic neurons and it is unsupervised itself. It formulates the updating gradient of the connecting weight in artificial neural networks. In this paper, we construct an objective function via modeling the Hebb rule. We make a hypothesis to simplify the model and introduce a correlation based constraint according to the hypothesis and stability of solutions. By analysis from the perspectives of maintaining abstract information and increasing the energy based probability of observed data, we find that this biologically inspired model has the capability of learning useful features. NLM can also be stacked to learn hierarchical features and reformulated into convolutional version to extract features from 2-dimensional data. Experiments on singlelayer and deep networks demonstrate the effectiveness of NLM in unsupervised feature learning.

A general learning rule, “BCM-δ”, is proposed that subsumes both unsupervised learning as a form of the BCM rule (Bienenstock, Cooper, Munro, 1982; Munro, 1984) and the delta rule (Rosenblatt, 1958; Rumelhart, Hinton, and Williams, 1986). The “BCM-δ” unit is composed of two subunits, T and L, each integrating distinct input streams across distinct sets of synapses. The two subunits follow a com...

The proposed IAFC neural networks have both stability and plasticity because theyuse a control structure similar to that of the ART-1(Adaptive Resonance Theory) neural network. The unsupervised IAFC neural network is the unsupervised neural network which uses the fuzzyleaky learning rule. This fuzzy leaky learning rule controls the updating amounts by fuzzymembership values. The supervised IAFC ...

In this article we intoduce a novel stochastic Hebb-like learning rule for neural networks that is neurobiologically motivated. This learning rule combines features of unsupervised (Hebbian) and supervised (reinforcement) learning and is stochastic with respect to the selection of the time points when a synapse is modified. Moreover, the learning rule does not only affect the synapse between pr...

We demonstrate in this article that a Hebb-like learning rule with memory paves the way for active learning in the context of recurrent neural networks. We compare active with passive learning and a Hebb-like learning rule with and without memory for the problem of timing to be learned by the neural network. Moreover, we study the influence of the topology of the recurrent neural network. Our r...
متن کاملDifferential ICA
As an alternative to the conventional Hebb-type unsupervised learning, differential learning was studied in the domain of Hebb’s rule [1] and decorrelation [2]. In this paper we present an ICA algorithm which employs differential learning, thus named as differential ICA. We derive a differential ICA algorithm in the framework of maximum likelihood estimation and random walk model. Algorithm der...
